What role should my high school coach play in the recruiting process?
Each high school coach is going to play a different role in the student-athletes recruiting process. Some coaches take more of an active role than others. It is very important early on to have a clear understanding of what role the high school coach will plan to take in the recruiting process. College coaches often like to communicate with High School coaches, more so than club coaches, because these coaches are often interacting with the student-athletes on a daily basis, and see them not just on the playing field, but also in the classroom, and in the community. They are also exposed to them in meaningful games and can speak to the competitiveness level of the student-athlete. It is expected that the high school coach will, at the very least, communicate with a college coach should the college coach be interested in speaking with them.
